British Society for the History of Science Postgraduate Conference

The BSHS Postgraduate Conference took place this year in a hybrid format, with the in-person elements being held at the Radcliffe Humanities Building between 30th March and 1st April. The annual conference, which aims to bring together the international postgraduate HSMT community, welcomed over 70 speakers from countries including Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Ecuador, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and the UK. Grouped into 30 panels, papers covered a wide variety of topics, from the natural history of dragons in early modern Europe, through Mamluk astronomy in the Great Mosque of Damascus, to the nineteenth-century encrypted messages of patients in the Royal Edinburgh Asylum. Professor Rob Iliffe gave the keynote lecture, discussing the history of science in a digital age, and the conference dinner was hosted by St Anthony's College. The conference was organised by Alexander Aizenman, Madeline White, Thomas Wood, and Zoe Screti.
